Lasting Architectural Heritage and Transformation of Shahjahanabad
Centre for Contemporary Urbanism conducted a walk in Shahjahanabad for about 20 students of architecture in their 4th year - about to embark on the subjects of Urban design and Urban Planning. This walk entitled, Lasting Architectural Heritage and Transformation of Shahjahanabad' , was specially designed to showcase the architectural as well as the urban elements of Old Delhi, which oozes history in its every nook and corner and yet is a living example of a thriving urban economic zone.
CCU took the students on foot through the narrow streets of Old Delhi to understand the monumental as well as the lesser known architectural heritage of Shahjahanabad.
Under CCU’s ‘Urban_Pedagogy’ initiative, unique methodologies are utilized to enhance awareness and knowledge about cities and its assets (such as architectural heritage) and to promote and support children and youth in understanding their role as urban citizens.
Walk was conducted by our walk leader Ar.AbhishekJain who has lived his whole life in Shahjahanabad and has been searching and researching on the city for the past 8 years.
