A walk to 'what was there before Shahjahanabad'
Shahjahanabad is ‘Old’. But, there are small pieces of history located within its walls which are 'OLDER' than Shahjahanabad. This walk explored some of these 'older' structures and how they came to be a part of Old Delhi, such as the grave of Razia Sultan, Turkman gate etc. The participants moved through galis of Kucha Pati Ram with its old havelis and Katras which are the site of confluence of two strong communities, a history of strong work culture, religious ethos, and a link of past to the present, moving towards the future under transformations of modern age.
Centre for Contemporary Urbanism is delighted to had people to share a cultural tour in the galis of Shahjahanabad on Saturday, 26th November, 2016. These City Walks by Centre for Contemporary Urbanismare part of its Alternative Urban Pedagogy initiative. To get a glimpse of our experience have a look at some pictures from the walk.
