Festival of Places
Centre for Contemporary Urbanism is delighted to collaborate with Festival of Places which took place at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts to explore the cultural legacies of cities -- Delhi, Lucknow and Kolkata. The festival is about understanding the idea of "Space as a Place" -- about exploring places that form an integral part of cities and towns, and CCU conducted the series of workshop and exhibited the documentation of the historic precincts and crafts on Lucknow by our team. The workshop which is part of our series of workshops titled 'To Understand the Built Environment’. Our mentor Ms. Kanak Tiwari discussed the history of the city, its imageable elements and famous folktales in an interesting format, a story telling session about the City of Nawabs (Lucknow) which is developed by CCU especially for young urban citizens. Sketching workshop was also structured where kids were encouraged to look around their surroundings and scribbled on canvas through the medium of pencil and colors. It was a treat to watch the children and their zeal to learn new things to understand their associated places.
